Why should you go green?
Did you know that...
Climate change* could trigger a planet-wide extinction of species similar to that of 65 million years ago when the dinosaurs were made extinct.
Within 50 years, climate change could cause one-third of all land-based species to face extinction.
If nothing is done, it is estimated that in 100 years' time, the planet will be hotter than it has been for two million years.
Each year, humans add up to eight billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels.
* Climate change or global warming is caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide (C02) and other polluting gases in our atmosphere. These gases form a blanket around the Earth and trap heat - a bit like the glass in a greenhouse. As the gases build up, the Earth's temperature will start to rise. Greenhouse gases are made by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas.
